Synopsis
Almost everyone wants to write a book – everyone has ideas they wish to share with the world. Is it for money or for popularity? It’s perhaps for both and more, as Orwell clearly states in his 1946 essay, “Why I write”. But fewer than two of every 50 eventually are able to complete a chapter before giving up. Fewer still are able to complete a book of any description. And those who get published are the fewest. The temptation to write and publish a book has become higher with the coming of digital publishing and ebooks. That means more work for editors, for only a pretender would self-publish without first taking their work to at least one editor -- a human editor, not AI (artificial intelligence). The starting point is learning how the language in which you wish to write works. You should first understand how grammar, syntax and tenses work before seeking to put your thoughts on paper. I’ve written this book for especially prospective writers, having mentored many over the past two decades or three.
